We set the alarm pretty early today, because the area around here can become very hot during the day. We checked out of our little cabin, which was a really nice place to stay.

We took our cars and drove up to Arches National Park, which was only a 15 minute drive away from the place we stayed at. We entered the park for free, by using our annual national park pass, a pass I would recommend to anyone visiting the USA. We drove up to a few viewing points and did some small walks to a few of the most beautiful arches of the park. It’s really hard to imagine that nature forms itself like this somehow. It was again really wonderful to see (I know, my enthusiasm must be getting boring)!

After we drove through the park, we went to see another dinosaur track place. This was really weird, awesome and incredible at the same time. We drove up the place and had to make a right towards a wobbly dirt road. There was absolutely nobody there. But, all right, we went on and followed the road for a few miles. And still, nobody there... after a few miles there were some signs that led us to the dinosaur tracks. Once there, we saw a piece of ground where the tracks of 10 different dinosaur species were preserved! This is really unique, since you normally only see the tracks of one, maybe two, different species.

We looked around and looked at all the different tracks. We learned about all the different species throughout the information provided at the place.

After we wondered around for a while, we took our cars and headed towards our next stop; Torrey, next to Capital Reef national park and Grand Staircase Escalante national park.

As we drove through Capitol Reef, Ery and I wanted to go for another hike, since the place looked so magical, with all its different colours, shapes and textures. So we went for a small canyon hike here. It was a little bit of a nerve wrecking hike, since it was in the territory of the mountain lion. Just in case you encounter one; make yourself as big as you can, raise your arms, spread out your jacket, and speak in a clear, monotonous but loud voice. Once the animal attacks you, you must fight back by throwing rocks, kicking, etc. That is what we learned. However, luckily, we did not face a mountain lion there. We did see a lot of other animals, such as marmots and beautiful species of birds. The canyon was really beautiful too and the hike was pretty fun too. We were able to walk into some slot canyons as well (really small canyons, only a few inches wide).

After our hike we were really hot, so we took the car and used the AC to cool ourselves off. We drove up to Torrey, where we stayed at the Broken Spurr Inn & Steakhouse. This is probably the most fun place to stay. We stayed in remodelled wagons, you know, the ones they used behind horses. The whole place was kind of western themed. The wagons were really nicely decorated though. Staying like this is also called glamping, glamorous camping. We had a king bed, bunk beds, AC, a fridge, microwave and even USB plug ins to charge your phone! We had our own bathroom in a complex of bathrooms. It was really nice!

At night, we went for dinner at a steakhouse, where I ate some vegetarian quesadillas, which were really tasty.

Ery and I also went for a nightly animal spotting drive with our car into the Dixie National forest. We did saw a little desert fox, which looked really cute and beautiful. After the drive, we all went to bed and slept pretty tight, since it was a nice and cold place at night, which was really refreshing after the hot locations we had visited. Here, we did not even need the AC, but instead, we needed thick blankets to sleep under.

Till tomorrow! Cheers!

Today, we did one of the most amazing and awesome things ever! We went to see another canyon, the canyonlands canyon. But this time, we went to see it from off a power boat! This boat went up to sixty miles an hour! The boat was of the spin king, famous for the spins he could do with his boat. Ranging through the canyon, spinning, twisting and getting really wet multiple times, we discovered this beautiful canyon! It was really an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone! The organisation is called Spin and Splash jet boat tour. Do you dare to ride the king? It went so fast, that in the first minute I gave my cap to the captain because it blew off (even while I was wearing extra straps around it and wore it backwards). During the next minute, I lost my glasses because a large wave hit my face! Luckily, it was still on the floor of the boat so I could put it away! During the ride, we also saw some bighorn sheep. You do not see them very often, so it was really special. They came down the canyon as we passed them.

After doing the spin and splash for one hour, we were all pretty tired and really wet. So we went home to clean ourselves up and get some rest.

In the afternoon, some of us went to the town of moab, to visit some local stores and do some groceries. And I went on a little road trip down the canyon. There, I discovered something really awesome. There was a sign that said; dinosaur trail. So we pulled up, and I got out to check it out. There were actual natural dinosaur footsteps on that mountain. I ran up the mountain and saw them myself! It was amazing to see the steps of these huge animals that lived many many years ago. I was so extremely excited, since I have always been very much interested in the Jurassic period! It was magical!

After taking a look, we headed back home, where others were cooking dinner already.

Today we went to visit the Chelly Canyon, which entrance was right next to our hotel. We had booked a tour with Bobby Vanwinckel, a native Navajo man. He grew up in the canyon. The Chelly canyon is Navajo territory. He took us for a three hour long jeep tour through the canyon, in two different jeeps. Bobby and his nephew drove the jeeps and told us all the stories about the history of the Navajo, Hopi and Anasazi people. They knew all the stories by learning them from their families and trainers. They also told us what all the drawings meant. It was really interesting to learn about the Navajo culture and see the canyon and see how people still live there. We bought some hand made bracelets by a lovely woman, who made all her jewellery herself. The jeep ride itself was also a lot of fun! It went up and down and up again! I highly recommend this really fun and extremely interesting tour of Bobby Vanwinckel!

After visiting the canyon, we went on to have some lunch, payed a visit to the visitors centre to watch a small movie about the history of the area, and then moved on to our next stop; Moab, Utah.

We stopped at hole in the rock on our way. I was really tired, so I slept most of the way, and worked on my journal.

In Moab we are staying in a mobile home, called red sands habituation. It is a really well organised mobile home, since there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room and a spacious living area. It’s insane how much they can fit in such a cabin! It sleeps up to eight people!

We cooked ourselves some nice dinner, some mexican wraps! After playing some games (which I won, haha), we went to bed! The beds were really comfortable and I slept great!

Keep u posted! Tomorrow a new adventure awaits! And it’s gonna be a cool one! Cheers!
